Lois V. Inwood, a lifelong New Canaan resident, died Friday, June 28, at Lord Chamberlain Health Center in Stratford with her loving family by her side. She was 88.

Born in Vista, N.Y., Feb. 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James and Nellie Westcott Jordan. She was the wife of the late James H. Inwood.

Mrs. Inwood was a celebrated athlete at New Canaan high school, her family said, lettering in softball, basketball and field hockey and she was also a cheerleader and won an award for her dancing, which she always loved along with ice skating.

She continued her love of sports vicariously throughout her life through watching the New York Mets and was especially proud of the 1969 World Series championship team, the “Miracle Mets.”  Mrs. Inwood also enjoyed watching her sons play sports and spending time with her daughter. She was always doing something in the yard spending as much time outdoors as possible.

In her later years, Mrs. Inwood enjoyed going to tag sales with her sister Barbara and taking trips to Atlantic City with family and friends where she played the slots.

Mrs. Inwood is survived by her daughter, Kathleen  Ambruso of Prospect; two sons, James T. Inwood and his wife Suellen, and Barry Inwood, both of Trumbull; two brothers, Albert Jordan of Florida and David Jordan of New York; a sister, Barbara Apy of New Canaan; four grandchildren — who called her Nena — and many nephews and nieces who knew her as Aunt Lolo.

She was predeceased by her brothers, John Jordan, William Jordan, Ralph Jordan, and Robert Jordan; and a sister, Dorothy Court.

Funeral services and burial will be private. Hoyt Funeral Home of New Canaan is in charge of arrangements.
