Obituary: Kate Lilley, 46, formerly of Trumbull
Kathleen Marie Lilley, 46, of Southington, formerly of Trumbull, passed away very suddenly on Sunday, October 23rd, 2016.
She was born on February 8th, 1970 in Manchester.
Kate attended St. Joseph High School and went on to graduate from Western New England College (now University) in Springfield, MA in 1993. After graduating, she spent a great deal of time exploring the states and working as a charismatic, fun-loving waitress before returning to Connecticut to start a family.
She was a homemaker who was devoted to her children and nurtured their interests and needs, and always relished the time spent with her family.
Kate is survived by her love and best friend, Michael Gallagher, 47, and her two children, Meg, 21, and Jack Gallagher, 13, whom she adored above all else in this world. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Lilley and wife, Carol of Berwyn, PA, her brother, Robert Lilley of Trumbull and her second mother, Patricia Gallagher. Kate leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, Robert Lilley and Nancy (Latshaw) Lilley, whom she cared for selflessly for years as they battled with illness.
Kate had experienced so much of life’s offerings, both joyous and painful, in such a short amount of time. Despite the numerous hardships that she had faced, she always made the best of what she had. The loss of her parents was devastating for her, and their passing left a very large hole in her spirit. Through the many trials and tribulations of life, she was able to rise above and combat her demons. She was proud of her sobriety and was able to keep this gift even in her passing.
Mom, watching you rebound from the despair and the pain that you had been in for so long was the greatest gift that you have ever given to me. Your perseverance, dedication, and willingness to turn your life around has ignited a flame inside of me that cannot be put out. You have provided us all with eternal joy that will be carried in our hearts forever. All my love, Meggie.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Oct. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m., at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington with a funeral service at 6 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
