Joan Reichert Strother, age 75, of Wytheville, Va., passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013.

She was the daughter of the late Frances & Mary Sandquist Reichert and a member of United Lutheran Church, of Crockett.

Joan loved God and experienced the joy of a deep personal relationship with his Son, Jesus. She believed that everyone she encountered had a part of Jesus in them and that’s what she focused on and celebrated.

We were not just “another person,” we were a sister/brother, a part of her own family and she rejoiced in that relationship.

While she was a wee-bit shy, she had amassed a large family in her world — and WE were a dear and important part of that world.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Thomas “Tom” Strother, of Wytheville; daughter & son-in-law, Diane & Blake Carter, of Horseshoe, N.C.; son & daughter-in-law, Glen Thomas Strother & Susan Lear, of West Haven, CT; and brother & sister-in-law, Paul & Elaine Reichert, of Westmoreland, N.H.

A memorial service for Mrs. Strother will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the United Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor Steve Dew. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time.

Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
