Obituary: Hans Forster
Hans Forster, husband of 55 years of Judith Scully Forster, died in hospice care after a valiant struggle with cancer.
Born in White Plains, NY to Fred and Anna Forster on August 31, 1935, Hans moved to CT at an early age.
He graduated from Fairfield Prep and St. Francis University in Loretto, PA. He served in the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve. Han’s favorite job was as an engineer who worked for General Dynamics on the Apollo Program. Hans was also active in Toastmasters and took pride in getting a group started when working at Pitney Bowes.
Clocks and classic cars were a passion he enjoyed.
In addition to his wife, Hans is survived by a warm loving family. They include his daughter Jean Vollbracht (Kevin) and her children Shannon Snow, and Kevin Vollbracht of FL, sons John (Celeste) and their children Grace, Caroline and Jack of Trumbull, CT, Jeffrey (Eileen) and their children Kelsey, Megan and Ryan of Oregon, and James of Hoboken, NJ. He is also survived by his brother Steve (Julie) Forster and his brother-in-law Jerry (Helen) Scully all of Oxford and sister-in-law Eleanor of CA. Within these families he leaves outstanding nieces and nephews.
Hans was predeceased by his brother Fred Forster. In additions Hans leaves his best friend Jack (Mary) Curry.
A memorial life to celebrate Hans’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday December 2, 2014 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford, CT followed by inurnment in St. Michael’s Cemetery Stratford, CT.
Memorial contributions may be made in Hans’ name to Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven Hospital 20 York St. New Haven, CT 06510.
The family would like to thank the staffs of the 8th and 12 floor at Smilow Cancer Center.
