Obituary: Eugene “Gene” Francis Sanislo Capt USA (Ret), of Trumbull
Eugene “Gene” Francis Sanislo Capt USA(Ret), of Trumbull, left us unexpectedly and joined the love of his life Astrid, in heaven on January 22, 2014.
He was born May 27,1930 in Norwalk, CT to the late Eugene and Mary Sanislo.
He was a retired contract administrator in the purchasing department of Sikorsky Aircraft. Prior to this he was employed by Winchester, Burndy Corp. and S.W. Hoyt Jr. Co. A retired Captain in the US Army, he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and in the Connecticut National Guard, retiring in 1969.
Mr. Sanislo was an active member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Trumbull for over 45 years serving in many positions including Senior Warden, treasurer and Verger. Gene was a member of the NRA and a distinguished pistol competitor who won 1st Expert Distinction at the National Rifle and Pistol competition. He received a Public service award from the CT secretary of state for his many years of service as a volunteer poll worker. Always eager to help others and devoted to his faith.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Astrid Ringstrom Sanislo.
He is survived by his loving children Kathy Lynn Kulish of Bridgeport and E. Scott Sanislo and his wife Mary of Windsor; his brother Robert Baron and wife Maria of Waterbury; his grandchildren T.J. and Nicholas Kulish of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews.
He will be sorely missed by his “FURRY friend Charlie” as well as the many people whose life he touched.
Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday January 27 at 11:00 a.m. Directly at Grace Episcopal Church 5958 Main St. Trumbull, CT. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Sunday Jan 26 from 2PM to 6PM at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home 399 White Pains Rd. Trumbull.
