Obituary: Dorothy M. Breul, 98, of Trumbull
Dorothy M. Breul, age 98, of Trumbull, beloved husband of 68 years to Frederic W. Breul, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side.
Dorothy was born in Bridgeport to the late William and Madeline Bolles and grew up in Fairfield graduating from Roger Ludlow High School.
After graduating from Fannie A. Smith Teacher Training School in Bridgeport, she taught at Lincoln and Washington schools in Fairfield until her marriage.
After raising her two children, Dorothy and her husband Fred successfully owned Breul’s Card Mart in Bridgeport from 1965 to 1978.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, crafts and music and together with Fred were members of Brownson Country Club in Huntington for over 30 years. They enjoyed many golfing trips to Vermont and New Hampshire with friends over the years.
Both Dorothy and Fred are honored to have been part of a small group of concerned parents who came together to found the Parents and Friends organization, now known as The Kennedy Center.
Above all else, Dorothy was forever devoted to her family and that love and devotion was returned to her each day. Her children meant the world to her and she spent her years tirelessly caring for them, which she did with beautiful grace and dignity. We will miss her dearly forever.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her dear son, Fredric “Bill” Breul of Bridgeport and dear daughter Judy and husband Tony Pedro of Huntington. She also leaves behind two loving grandsons, Mark and girlfriend Jess and Gary and wife Cari, and two great-granddaughters, Raegan and Maggie.
The family wishes to thank Dorothy’s caregivers, Faith and Colleen, who helped make her last weeks as comfortable as possible with their kindness and compassion shown to all. Thank you also to the Vitas Hospice Care team.
