Anne Kandrach Lacko, of Stratford, just days shy of her 97th birthday, beloved wife of the late John R. Lacko, entered into eternal rest on February 26, 2013 at peace and in the comfort of her daughter’s home with her loving daughter and son in law by her side.

She took the journey to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, John of 50 years, her parents and siblings.

She will be dearly missed by her beloved daughter Marianne and her son-in-law James with whom she resided for the past few years wanting to be close to her family. There was no bond greater than that of her and her daughter.

Anne was born March 19, 1916, the daughter of John and Dora Marus Kandrach. Anne’s mother Dora immigrated to the United States from Czechoslovakia arriving at Ellis Island on July 9, 1903.

Anne was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, doing crossword puzzles, and playing scrabble. She enjoyed making dinner with her daughter and going shopping and running errands together. She loved most spending time with her daughter and son in law and especially looked forward to going out to dinner on Sundays after attending Mass.

Anne was the last surviving child of Dora and John’s having been predeceased by her brother Michael Kandrack of Stratford, her sister, Sister Mary Ignatius Kandrach of the Order of Sisters of St. Joseph, Newark, New Jersey, and her brother John Kandrach of Milford.

Anne is survived by her daughter Marianne P. Chedister (James) of Trumbull, her two second cousins Mary Ann Marus of Stratford, and the Rev. Andrew Marus pastor of Holy Name of Jesus Church, Stratford, along with several nieces and nephews.

Marianne would like to thank the many friends of St. James Parish in Stratford for all their prayers and support for Anne over the years especially Joanne Giba, Joan and Joanne Dunphey, Bob Miller, Betty and Rich Corona, the Rev. Bruce Roby and Deacon Tim Bolton. Anne’s family wishes to extend their warmest thank you to all the staff of St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, and her doctors Daniel T. Kocinsky, M.D. and Jared G. Selter, M.D. for their loving care during the course of her illness. Our sincere thanks goes out to the amazing staff at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care of Stratford, who lovingly helped care for Anne through these most important final days of her life.
