Trumbull residents have spoken and the verdict is clear: Trumbull Day is better as a summer event. In a recent poll conducted by The Trumbull Times, 73% of readers voted for the fireworks-themed event to be moved back to its original date \u2014 the weekend before July 4. The 930 votes for moving the event back to the summer obliterated the next closest total, which was 163 votes (13%) for\u00a0doing away with the long-standing tradition altogether. Finishing in third place in the poll with 159 votes (13%) was the mid-September time slot that Trumbull Day was held on in 2015. After a controversial decision in last spring and undergoing budget cuts over the summer, Trumbull Day was held in a joint ceremony with The Trumbull Arts Festival. In February 2016,\u00a0Town Council members voted to hand responsibility for the event to parks department. Democrat members on the council expressed the need for volunteer leadership.
