UPDATE: Trumbull students got a four-day weekend as cold overnight temperatures froze local roads, making driving treacherous.

Last night, as storm cleanup progressed, the school system sent out a notification that there would be a two-hour delay. That delay was extended to a full-day closing this morning at 8:30 a.m.

As residents continue to dig out from the storm, which dropped between 9 and 13 inches of snow locally, the National Weather Service is forecasting more snow overnight into Saturday.

The latest forecast is for light snow tonight after 8 p.m., accumulating about an inch. Saturday's high temperature is expected to be about 40 degrees, with a wintry mix possible Saturday night, and rain likely Sunday.

UPDATE: 8:57 a.m.: Public Works Director John Marsilio reports that about five inches of snow has fallen in Trumbull so far. Work crews reported at 4 a.m., and the first snow began falling shortly after 5 a.m.

As of right now, there are 26 plows, plus supervisors and a number of smaller trucks equipped to clear snow out on Trumbull roads. Marsilio estimates that once the snow stops, it will take crews about 5-6 more hours to clear all roads.
