Town Council seeks public input on senior-community center site recommendation

After a lengthy vetting process last fall, the Senior-Community Center and Library Study Building Committee is ready to bring forward a progress report — and a site recommendation — to the Trumbull Town Council at its meeting Monday, March 7.

Joe Pifko, co-chairman of the Senior-Community Center and Library Study Building Committee, told The Times Wednesday that Island Brook Park will be recommended as the future site for the Senior-Community Center and that the proposal will not involve a move of the Trumbull Library.

The District 4 council member added that there has not been a final decision on whether or not the center will be built or where it will be built, and that there will not be a vote on the proposal at Monday night's meeting.

Pifko said that he wants the public to voice their opinions on the proposed future site and encouraged residents to attend the meeting to hear the plan.

According to Pifko, the proposed center at Island Brook Park would only take up about one to two acres of the 43-acre property. He told The Times that the center, if built, would be located in the middle, wooded area and would not disturb the ball fields or be near residences.
