The current state of pension savings in Connecticut will be the lead topic of discussion at a retirement-themed meeting in the Trumbull Library’s community room at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9.

Town Treasurer John Ponzio will talk about the town’s pension plan, and discuss what Connecticut and other states are doing to ensure residents are saving enough for retirement.

"The average individual’s retirement savings are too low to fund their retirement plan," said Tim Ryan, president of the Trumbull Taxpayers Association. "This is a looming crisis that has public policy and tax impacts we should all be concerned about.  Some states, including CT, are now looking at new retirement saving programs – come learn about the new Connecticut Retirement Security Board and their proposals to the legislature coming in 2016."
