Hwang gets BRBC award

State Rep. Tony Hwang received the AT&T Regional IMPACT Legislator Award for 2014 at the Bridgeport Regional Business Council's (BRBC) annual meeting on June 3. The annual BRBC event featured the region's key economic development projects, and honored the 2014 IMPACT award winners.

Hwang was recognized for his distinguished and lengthy legislative record advocating for expanding our state’s job creation efforts and trying to foster a more cooperative relationship between the private and public business sectors. He has also been a lead voice for Connecticut on the state’s attempt to build a bioscience industry.

BRBC President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Timpanelli said, “The Bridgeport Regional Business Council is honored to have the opportunity to recognize State Representative Tony Hwang for his dedicated service to our region, his constituents, and the State of Connecticut. Tony is a conscientious, hard-working legislator with a keen insight into how jobs are developed.”

“As an immigrant entrepreneur and small-business owner himself, Tony has an exceptional ability to see what the future holds in terms of economic opportunity,” said award presenter Kelly Wade Bettuchi, from AT&T. “He is focused on strengthening our economy, particularly in the areas of bio-science business development. He is dependable, hard-working and passionate in his commitment to making our state a better place to live and work.”
