First Selectman Tim Herbst recently released the following statement regarding the harassment complaint against Police Commission Chairman Roger McGovern:

The Trumbull Police Department received a complaint from a member of the public and initiated an investigation into the actions of a member of the Trumbull Police Commission.  This investigation remains ongoing.  Local law enforcement will refer this matter to the State’s Attorney’s office to determine if any laws were broken or if charges should be filed.  At the conclusion of this investigation, if there is sufficient evidence to establish that laws were broken, the offending party should submit their resignation.

No official, elected or appointed, is above the law and we take our responsibility as public officials very seriously.  If any public official violates the law, they will be held accountable.
