To the Editor:
My kids and I once again participated in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event to benefit the The Center for Family Justice that supports five towns, including Trumbull.
It was nice to see the record turnout of walkers this year.
They introduced the elected officials from the towns supported by the Center. All the mayors and first selectman were there — except for Trumbull, again.
All the chiefs of police were there — except for Trumbull, again.
It was incredibly disappointing.
Kudos should go out to Trumbull Athletic Director Mike King, who, despite not getting notice of the event through our elected officials as other school districts did, was able with less than two weeks notice to get some THS representation.
Thanks to the women's lacrosse team that participated. I'd like to challenge our elected officials and our sports team to next year more fully participate.
Every other high school and college in the supported towns had multiple sports teams and club participate. St Joe's had several sports teams there.
There is no reason that with enough notice we can't do the same. The Center provides support to many here in Trumbull. We should be doing the same for the Center.
