GOP leader — Slack will serve with integrity
An accomplished writer and family man, Charles Slack was unanimously approved for appointment to the Ethics Commission by the Town Council Monday night to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of William Brown.
Mr. Slack joins a long list of Ethics Commissioners with great integrity and experience. I laud our first selectman for recommending him to the council. His separation from politics provides the Commission with the independence needed to avoid conflicts of interest or other disqualifications from service.
This is Charles first formal service to the town as he has never sought or served in appointive or elective office. He has worked extensively with the We the People Debate teams where I first met him. His knowledge of history and career in journalism have served to propel our students to great success on the debate stage. I wish him well on the Ethics Commission.
