The HAN Network just completed its spring sports tour, visiting all 17 schools in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC). “As the official broadcaster of the FCIAC, the HAN Network does the tour as a way of highlighting all the remarkable student athletes and teams around the conference. These young adults are really impressive, and our video interviews make that abundantly clear,” said Martin V. Hersam, chief executive officer of the HAN Network. During the seven days of the tour, the broadcasting team of the HAN Network interviewed more than 444 captains of 161 different teams. You can watch the interviews at HAN’s broadcast website, live.HAN.Network, organized by school. “Producing this much content in such a short period of time is only possible because of the skill and organization of our broadcasting team and the coordination with the 17 incredible FCIAC athletic directors,” Hersam said. “The athletic directors are a huge reason why the FCIAC is the premier conference in this state. They each run big programs with a lot of student athletes and coaches … and they do it very, very well.” FCIAC high schools are Greenwich, Stamford, Westhill, Trinity Catholic, Darien, New Canaan, Wilton, Ridgefield, Danbury, Trumbull, Fairfield Warde, Fairfield Ludlowe, Bridgeport Central, St. Joseph, Staples, Norwalk, and Brien McMahon. Since launching its new live-streaming and on-demand broadcasting division at the end of August, the HAN Network has reached nearly 1 million total viewers with a daily mix of live news, sports and lifestyle content. During the fall and winter high school sports seasons, HAN streamed live coverage of football, boys and girls soccer, field hockey, girls volleyball, girls and boys ice hockey, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, and indoor track at http://han.network/. These events draw thousands of viewers along with a highly engaged social media audience. This spring, the HAN Network will be streaming live broadcasts of Connecticut boys and girls lacrosse, baseball, softball, tennis, track, and more. The network’s schedule includes approximately 32 regular-season games as well as multiple conference championship games. You can see the schedule here. “We are thrilled with the rapid progress of our broadcasting efforts. We are building a big and engaged audience that our advertisers want,” Hersam said. “It is only because of the incredibly smart and hardworking staff at HAN that we could come so far so fast.” The HAN Network, formerly Hersam Acorn Newspapers, consists of 13 weekly newspapers and 18 community news and lifestyle websites, as well as many other special-interest websites.
