Trumbull Public Schools announced Tuesday afternoon that all after school and evening activities from 4:00 p.m. on are cancelled today, Tuesday, Jan. 12.

According to a National Weather Service update posted at 1:38 p.m. Tuesday, snow showers are likely, mainly after 4 p.m.

Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

"Cloudy, with a high near 38," the afternoon update read. "Wind chill values between 30 and 35. Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%."

As for Tuesday night, the report said snow showers are likely to happen before 9 p.m.

"Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 23," the update said. "Wind chill values between 15 and 20. West wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible."

Looking ahead for tomorrow, the report said there's a chance of flurries between 8 a.m. and noon.

The weather is supposed to be mostly sunny, with a high near 31. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. West wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph, the report added.

At 1:27 p.m., the National Weather Service in New York issued a special weather statement for Fairfield County as well as other neighboring regions.

"Snow showers for this afternoon through evening commute," the statement read. "Snow showers will develop this afternoon through this evening. These will be locally moderate and possibly heavy for a brief time. Temperatures in some locations will be cold enough for snow to stick to the ground creating slippery conditions. In addition, winds will become more gusty with visibilities getting reduced to a mile or less at times. Total snow
accumulations are expected to be near 1 inch or less."

"Motorists should be aware of these conditions and travel extra slowly and carefully this afternoon through this evening," the report said.
