Trumbull resident helps support cancer coalition
Kristen Bosse, a senior at Lesley University and resident of Trumbull, has joined the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition team against breast cancer as a Special Events and Outreach Intern.
MBCC is hosting a 21st annual Against the Tide Event on June 22 in Hopkinton, Mass. and the another annual event on August 17th in Brewster, Mass.
MBCC is inviting people to participate in this statewide Against the Tide swim, walk, run, kayak fundraising events. Proceeds benefit MBCC, which is a local grassroots advocacy organization that seeks to understand the causes of breast cancer in order to find ways to prevent the disease in the first place.
Kristen Bosse, a senior student at Lesley University studying Financial Management and Mathematics, is thrilled to spend her final internship opportunity working as a Special Events and Outreach intern.
“MBCC specifically impressed me with their mission and goals directed towards the prevention of breast cancer,” Bosse said. “I’m excited at the prospect of working with other interns to establish a high level of community outreach and raise awareness about this disease. It is estimated that over 39,520 females will die due to breast cancer in 2013. It is statistics like these that push the MBCC to continue raising funds for research and ultimately spare the lives of those infected.
“The Against the Tide events in Hopkinton and Brewster allow athletes and newcomers alike to participate in a variety of fitness activities for a great cause,” Bosse said. “I pledge as a Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition intern to support their mission and get others involved! I feel honored to work with such an organization this early in my career.”
“Kristen's energy and enthusiasm was evident to me when we had our first conversation,” Executive Director, Cheryl Osimo, said. “As a star athlete and college scholar I know that her drive and belief in our goal towards prevention will make this years Against the Tide events the best ever.”
