Boston is the host city to the World Championships of Irish Dancing 2013. This is only the second time in more than 40 years the world championships will take place in North America, the first being Philadelphia in 2009.

More than 7,000 dancers from around the world will be participating in the " Olympics" of Irish dance. Among those are 51 students from Lenihan School of Irish Dance which holds classes in Fairfield, Monroe, and throughout Connecticut.

Seven students from Lenihan School have accomplished the qualification for solo dance competition, thereby representing all New England. All members of the school travelling to Boston will vie for awards in team dances.

Trumbull dancers Bridget Walker, Colleen Mocker, Claire Butler and Molly Butler have achieved placement on Team Lenihan for Worlds 2013.
