The ABCs of Bees

Family Program

Sunday, Aug. 3, 6-7:30 p.m., or Sunday, Aug. 10, 6-7:30 p.m. Learn what all the buzz is about bees. In this 90 minute class, local beekeepers Lisa and Kyle Peters, will teach the importance of bees and what you can do to keep them happy. Real live bees will be on hand so you can see for yourself how bees work to make their delicious honey. Special bonus: One jar of locally produced honey will be given to each pre-registered family. Cost: $12 per family, includes one jar of honey. Ages: All ages welcome, recommended for ages 6+.

ArtSmart! Explorers

Design in Nature

Aug. 4-8, 9 a.m.-noon — A week of fine art and cool crafting designed to encourage the exploration of design found in the natural world. Artists will examine natural specimens and use photo reference and masterworks as inspiration for their works of art. Projects include “Earth from Above” landscapes, Sumi-E botanicals, animal abstractions, textured tiles, paper collage and a new approach to action painting;Dripped Designs! Crafts will include a “nature assemblage”, block printed decor and wire/plaster sculpture. Cost: $43/day or $215/week. Note: Registrants can enroll at trumbullnatureandartscenter.org for the week, or by the day(s). Ages: 8-14.
