On April 11, the Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band (THSGEMB) World Guard will host the Winter Color Guard’s Musical Arts Conference Championships on Trumbull High School’s campus at 72 Strobel Road. The doors will open at 3 p.m., and the competition begins at 4.

The middle school color guard, or Trumbull’s A Guard Team, will perform their show “Once upon at Vine” at 6:40 p.m., and the world ranked Trumbull High World Guard Team will perform their show “Pale Blue Dot” at 9:30 p.m. The Trumbull High World Winter Guard Team is currently ranked 10th in the world by Winter Guard International (WGI).

WGI Sport of the Arts is the world’s premier organization producing indoor color guard, percussion, and wind ensemble competitions. As a non-profit youth organization, WGI serves as the leading governing body of the winter guard and indoor percussion activities. It is called the Sport of the Arts because it brings music to life through performance in a competitive format.

Now entering its 38th year in 2015, the sport continues to evolve and grow. There were more than 36,000 participants at the regional level, and more than 12,000 participants at the Sport of the Arts World Championships this past April.
