School Picture Day is on Friday, Sept. 12. Every child will be photographed for school records. If parents do not wish to purchase students’ photographs, return the envelope so marked. Every child must return his/her envelope/receipt to the photographer on picture day. Get a head start and check out the website at mylifetouch.com, enter picture day #: EJ014599Q0 (all “0” are zeros).
Sign-ups for sports club are underway in all PE classes. The first activity is soccer. The permission slip deadline is Friday, Sept. 12.
Seventh graders will be taking the OLSAT Test on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
Save the Date: Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. MMS Spirit Wear T-Shirts will be available for $10, Locker Ladders for $20 between 6:30 and 7 p.m., and again right after last bell is rung during back to school night.
Students who’ve made a difference by volunteering in their community over the past year could win $1,000 and a fabulous trip to Washington, D.C. by applying for a Prudential Spirit of Community Award! See Mrs. LaMaine in the counseling office with any questions or to submit an application.
KARE is Madison’s community service group that meets after school to help others. Our first official meeting will be later this month. Any returning members who would either like to help judge the talent show tryouts or be a stage crew member/emcee the night of the show should see Mrs. Malgioglio ASAP in room 122.
Save the date: KARE’s annual talent show will be held the evening of Thursday, Oct. 9. Tryouts will be held after school on Sept. 15, 17, and 22. Students only have to attend one tryout, but MUST sign up for it ahead of time. Singers need to bring a cd/iPod with a song that does not have the vocals. All talents including, but not limited to, musicians, bands, magicians, vocalists, gymnasts, cheer groups, etc. are encouraged to tryout.
Jazz band audition materials are available in the band room. Students should see Mr. Thornton to sign-up for an audition time.
