Jane Ryan parent volunteers are needed for Sensitivity Day on Tuesday, March 26. Sensitivity Day exposes fourth grade students to a variety of physical and learning disabilities with a hands-on sensitive program and helps increase awareness of those with disabilities. The day begins with discussions in the classroom focused on ways to be open and sensitive to all people. The kids then move to hands-on learning stations in the gym. The program concludes with a classroom discussion and worksheet on each student’s feelings on the program. Friends of Trumbull Public Schools will read books illustrating various differences in a positive way to classes K-5 throughout the day.
The shift is for approximately 3.5 hours. It is preferred that someone be willing to stay for the entire time. If a volunteer wants to do a 1/2 shift, they should work directly with Yolanda Soto (email@example.com) since she needs to ensure coverage for the entire event.
