Thursday, Oct. 30 will be student council speeches for student’s running for officer positions.
Friday, Oct. 31, will be classroom Halloween celebrations.
Monday, Nov. 3, all students in grades 1-5 will vote for student council officers.
No school Tuesday, Nov. 4, for Election Day. Teachers will be involved in professional development.
Thursday, Nov. 6, will be a legal day. Dismissal will be at 1 p.m.,for parent teacher conferences by appointment. Lunch will not be served.

Rewards Program — Frenchtown is once again be participating in the Stop and Shop A+ Program. Registration for the 2014-15 school year has begun. School ID is 06238. You need to register your Stop and Shop card at stopandshop.com/savings-and-rewards/rewards-program/aplus/. Earn points while you shop that will equate back to dollars for our school.

Jane Ryan School
Jane Ryan music teacher Olya Fryz is looking for copies of pictures of Jane Ryan family veterans. A special wall of photos honoring these veterans and current soldiers will be outside the school’s music room. Please share your history by sending in a photo of the veteran or soldier in your family in uniform (preferred, but not required). Picture copies can be sent in an envelope to Mrs. Fryz marked “Picture of Veteran” with veteran name, arms forces division, and Jane Ryan staff or student connection. A flier with information was sent home in your child’s backpack.
The Jane Ryan Father’s Club Night Out will be on Friday, Nov. 7, at Meadow Road Hall (14 Meadow Road) at 7:30 p.m. The hall holds approximately 50 people and this event always sells out. The event includes dinner, beverages, raffles and games and is $25 per person in advance. Bring your instruments for a jam session. Fliers came home in your child’s backpack.
Family members of the Jane Ryan community who are current servicemen or veterans are invited to join the community for a concert at Jane Ryan on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. Soldiers and veterans are also invited to visit classrooms at 1:30 p.m. Please note on the flier that went home in backpacks which classroom you wish to visit. As part of the Veteran’s Day activities, The Student Council will be collecting items to send to military men and women overseas. A wish list was sent home in your child’s backpack. Cards, letters and poems by the children will also be accompanying packages. The collection ends on Thursday, Nov. 20.
The Jane Ryan Student Council is collecting candy for the Covenant to Care to be given to underprivileged children. Bags and single bars are welcome. The collection drive ends on Nov. 5. The council is also collecting healthy non-perishable food items for House of Hope, which will be delivered to local food banks. Boxes are placed in the second and fifth grade hallways. The collection ends on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
The fall fund-raiser order will be available for pick up on Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the gym from 3-5 p.m. Please be prompt in picking up your order. The school does not have storage to hold any orders. Small orders can be sent home with your student. A flier went home in backpacks that parents can fill out and return if they prefer to have orders sent home.
Madison Middle School
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12 (1-3 p.m.), and Thursday, Nov. 20 (1-3 a.m.,and 6:30-8:30 p.m.). Registration and conference scheduling are available now by visiting madison.schoolappointments.com.
Kidstuff Coupon Books were distributed last week. If parents want to purchase the book, return the white envelope with $25. If not, students should return books to homeroom teachers as soon as possible. Sale ends Friday, Nov. 7.

The Middlebrook Student Council will be collecting unopened Halloween candy from Oct. 29-Nov. 7, for Operation Gratitude, which will prepare and send holiday packages for our troops overseas. A collection box will be set up in the front lobby.
The Read to Grow book collection will continue until Oct. 31.

Save the Date: Scholastic Book Fair, Nov.13 and 14
Mrs. Byers’ and Mrs. Wyckoff’s classes are collecting new socks in all sizes, to be donated to The Bridgeport Rescue Mission. Spring Meadows Halloween Parade. Friday, Oct. 31. Meet at 4:50 p.m. in the front lobby of Spring Meadows Senior Living, 6949 Main St. Parade will begin at 5 p.m. Kids dress in constume and must be accompanied by an adult. Siblings welcome. Parents must transport their own children to and from the event.
Monday, Nov. 3 is Sensitivity Day, 8:45 a.m.-2 p.m. All fourth grade classes will participate. Volunteers are needed. Sign up at pta.ivolunteer.com/sensitivity2014.
