Friday, May 24: Kindergarten field trip to the SCSU Lyman Theatre; fifth grade field day; the Trumbull Youth Association is hosting a Meet and Greet for 5th graders to meet their future middle school classmates at Trumbull High School from 7-9 p.m. Tickets cost $10.
Tuesday, May 28: Third grade health fair; 5th grade field trip to visit Hillcrest for orientation; 4th grade field day; annual Night at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Rain date is June 4.

The 5th grade Science Fair will be tonight, Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m., in the cafetorium, and from 9 a.m.-noon on Friday, May 24, for the students. Every class in grades K-4 will have a science fair project displayed in the main lobby.
Frenchtown students, parents and staff will meet at 9 a.m., at Marissa’s to march in the Memorial Day parade. Everyone should wear red, white and blue or Frenchtown spirit wear. Parents will pick up students after the parade near the gazebo on Quality Street. Note that the parade is now in the morning.
Students and staff should wear red, white and blue on Tuesday, May 28 for Citizenship Day.
RSVPs for the 10th annual PTA Banquet are due by May 24. Dinner is on Wednesday, May 29, 7, p.m. at Panino’s in Monroe. Flyers were sent home.
Bus rides for incoming Frenchtown Kindergartners with last names beginning with the letters A-L will be Wednesday, May 29, 9:15 a.m., and for last names M-Z will be Thursday, May 30, 9:15 a.m.
Jane Ryan School
Jane Ryan is offering its families the option of purchasing a back to school supply kit. Each item is chosen by the teachers and is exactly what is on your child’s supply list. The entire package comes in a reusable tote. Kits will be delivered to the school and placed on each student’s desk for the “meet your teacher” day in August. Ordering by mail will end on Tuesday, May 28. You can place an order online until June 14 by visiting harcourtoutlines.com/btsp.cfm. Our school code is jresbtsp2013. The spring music concert will be on Wednesday, May 29 at 7 p.m., at Madison Middle School. For the in-school concert on May 29, fifth graders should wear their red T-shirts and the rest of the school can wear red and/or white. For the concert at Madison, boys are asked to wear dress shirt, dress pants (no jeans or sneakers), and tie is optional. The girls are asked to wear dresses, blouses and skirts (or pants). Band and string students need to wear at least knee-length skirts. Band students report to the band room behind the stage at 6:30 p.m. String students report to the cafeteria at 6:15 p.m. And, 5th grade students only in chorus, meet Mrs. Fryz in the back of the auditorium at 6:45 p.m.

Wellness Committee is seeking a parent volunteer to take over the Terracycling at Middlebrook as well as doing one or two presentations on recycling to our student reps. during next year’s program. Instead of our usual Memorial Day Assembly, Tashua students and families are invited to honor our vets and show their school spirit by marching together as a school community in this year’s Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27. Meet at the parking lot of Marisa’s Ristorante at 9:30 a.m. Marchers are encouraged to wear blue and orange. Bring wagons and strollers for the little ones. The Circus is coming to Tashua. The Odd Fellows Performers on Friday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m., to celebrate the end of school year. There will be an in-school program during each PE class on June 10 and June 12
The graduating class will be having an ice cream social before the Circus on June 7, starting at 5 p.m. One of the many items needed for the Animal Shelter (listed in the upcoming blast) or a $3 donation will get you a dish of ice cream served with animal cookies made by the 5th grade class. All proceeds to benefit the Bridgeport Animal Shelter as part of the 5th grade community service.
