Every Tuesday will be Spirit Day. Students and staff will wear blue and white, Frenchtown spirit wear or a shirt with a Wolf on it. The last Tuesday of every month is Citizenship Day when students and staff wear red, white and blue.
Thursday, Oct, 22, from 7-8:30 p.m., will be our Parent Reading and Math Night for parents of students in grades K, 1 and 2. You will meet the Reading and Math specialists, learn more about Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC) and our curriculum, learn about our on-line resources and ways to help your child(ren) at home. Last night the meeting was for parents of students in grades 3, 4 and 5. Please being and electronic device of your choice. Guest Wi-Fi is available. The PTA will have a meeting both nights from 6:30-7 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 22, PTA will present the ABC’s of the Budget, to parents from 9-10:30 a.m., in the cafetorium. All are welcome to attend.
Read Aloud Day is Friday, Oct, 23, throughout the district. Readers have been assigned to go into each class to read a book that will then be gifted to the class. This year’s theme is America, The Early Years.
Grades 3, 4 and 5 will vote in Mock Elections for Trumbull’s First Selectman on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Student Council speeches will be on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. Students in grades K-1 will register to vote and vote for Student Council Officers on Monday, Nov. 2.
Photo retake day will be on Thursday, Nov. 12. Students that were absent will have their photos taken that day. More information will be sent home closer to the retake day if you are interested in having your child’s photo retaken.
Rewards Program: Frenchtown will once again be participating in the Stop and Shop A+ Program. Our school ID is 06238. Register your 13 digit Stop and Shop card at stopandshop.com/savings-and-rewards/rewards-program/aplus/. Earn points while you shop that will equate back to dollars for our school. Jane Ryan School
The Jane Ryan Veterans Day concert will be on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. If any Jane Ryan student, faculty or staff member has a veteran or soldier in their family, they are invited to send in copies of photos. There will be a special wall of pictures honoring the veterans, including those who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. Pictures of veterans and/or soldiers in uniform (but not required) should be sent to Mrs. Olya Fry, Jane Ryan’s music teacher, but photos can also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Fliers came home in the children’s backpacks.
Jane Ryan PTA Directory and Membership registration system is now open to accept registrations for the 2015-16 school year. Your family will NOT be in the directory unless you provide the necessary information by going to http://bit.ly/1plBvWX. The form is organized in sections. Click on the header(s) in the form to view and make any necessary changes. You will be able to join the JR PTA with secure online payment via PayPal or credit card. Juice box collection is underway. Each classroom has a basket for collection. Baskets are emptied periodically. The main recycling bin is located in the cafeteria so students can place juice pouches in from their lunches.

Friday, Oct. 23: Community Service Event — Halloween Costume Parade at Spring Meadows Residence Home, 6949 Main St. (Rte 25).
