Every Tuesday will be Spirit Day. Students and staff will wear blue and white, Frenchtown spirit wear or a shirt with a Wolf on it. The last Tuesday of every month is Citizenship Day when students and staff wear red, white and blue.
Student Council speeches will be on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. Students in grades 1 – 5 will register to vote and vote for Student Council Officers on Monday, Nov. 1.
On Friday, Oct. 30, classes will have Halloween celebrations in their classrooms. The PTA Halloween Spooktacular will have two sessions. One will be from 5:30-7 p.m., and the other from 7:30-9 p.m. Tickets are $5 per person for PTA members; $6 per person for non-members or $6 per person at the door. Children under 3 are free.
There is no school for students on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Teachers will attend Professional Development workshops.
Thursday, Nov. 5 and Tuesday, Nov. 10 are legal day dismissals for students since there are Parent Teacher Conferences scheduled. These are by appointment. Students will be released at 1pm. Lunch will not be served. There are also evening conferences scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12, again by appointment.
Photo retake day will be on Thursday, Nov. 12. Students that were absent or who are new to the school since October 1 will have their photos taken that day. More information will be sent home closer to the retake day if you are interested in having your child’s photo retaken.
Friday, Nov. 13 is Frenchtown Family Night at the Trumbull HS football game. More details will be sent home.

Jane Ryan School
The Student Council will be collecting items to be sent to military men and women overseas through the Blue Star Moms in Stratford. A wish list of items needed was included on a flier that went home in backpacks last week. Donations can be dropped off in any classroom beginning October 21 through November 11. If any family has a loved one currently serving, a care package can be sent can be sent to him/her if you provide the school with an address. Please contact Mrs. DeCesare or Mrs. Ferrari for more information.
The Jane Ryan Veterans Day concert will be on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 2:00 p.m. If any Jane Ryan student, faculty or staff member has a veteran or soldier in their family, they are invited to send in copies of photos. There will be a special wall of pictures honoring the veterans, including those who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. Pictures of veterans and/or soldiers in uniform (but not required) should be sent to Mrs. Olya Fry, Jane Ryan’s music teacher, but photos can also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Fliers came home in the children’s backpacks.
Jane Ryan PTA Directory and Membership registration system is now open to accept registrations for the 2015-16 school year. Enrollment has been extended to October 16. Your family will NOT be in the directory unless you provide the necessary information by going to http://bit.ly/1plBvWX. The form is organized in sections. Click on the header(s) in the form to view and make any necessary changes. You will be able to join the JR PTA with secure online payment via PayPal or credit card. Juice box collection is underway. Each classroom has a basket for collection. Baskets are emptied periodically. The main recycling bin is located in the cafeteria so students can place juice pouches in from their lunches.
