The Student Council will be collecting canned and boxed food from now through November 20. All donations will be given to the Trumbull Food Bank. Please donate food items that can be used to make baskets for Thanksgiving dinner. Drop off items in the boxes outside the library or in the classrooms.
For Veteran’s Day, students were given a star to fill out honoring a Veteran in their family or someone they know. All the stars are hung in the hallway by the library. Come by and take a look.
Students Council speeches will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19, and Student Council elections will be held on Friday, Nov. 20.
Hat Day will be held on Friday, Nov. 20. Students can wear any type of hat.
The second grade will be taking a field trip to Stepping Stones on Monday, Nov. 23.
To celebrate Thanksgiving, there will be early dismissal on Wednesday, Nov. 25, and no school on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27.
The Father’s Club is presenting a private screening of Star Wars VII on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 9:15 a.m. That’s the day after opening night! Tickets are $8 and kid’s combos are $7. Go to www.bhfathersclub.com to register for the big event.

Votes were cast for Student Council officers on Monday, Nov. 2 by students in grades 1-5. Officers are: President, William Genuario; Vice President, Matthew Cherfane; Secretary, Aidan Williams; Treasurer, Lucas Arone and Community Liaison, Sophia Pucci.
The Student Council is sponsoring a canned food drive for the holidays to benefit Trumbull Food Pantry now through Nov. 17, and each grade level was assigned a boxed or canned good to donate.
Photo retake day is Thursday, Nov. 12. Students that were absent or who are new to the school since October 1 will have their photos taken that day. In order for your child's photo to be retaken they must bring back the package that was purchased excluding the class photo.
There are evening parent/teacher conferences scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12, again by appointment.
Friday, Nov. 13, all grade 3 students will receive a dictionary donated by the Rotary Club.
Friday, Nov. 13 is Frenchtown Family Night at the Trumbull High School football game at 7 p.m. There will also be a food drive sponsored by the TAG Service Learning Project. Bring a canned food item or money to donate to the Connecticut Food Bank.
All spirit wear orders are due the same day.
On Tuesday, Nov. 16, Mrs. Norcel is holding a Muffins for Moms informal get together at 8:45 a.m. Enjoy coffee and a chat with the principal. My goal is to increase parent communications. I will answer questions and welcome new ideas and suggestions. RSVP to the school by Monday, Nov. 16.
Jane Ryan School
The Jane Ryan Cookie Dough fundraising concludes on Friday, Nov. 13. Children are encouraged to show the cookie sheet to their family and friends, but not to sell door to door. Checks should be make payable to Jane Ryan School.
Picture Retake Day is Tuesday, Nov. 17. If you would like a retake, please send in your original packet, minus the class picture. If your child was absent for Picture Day, they will have their picture taken on retake day too. Any questions, contact Jayne Macintyre.
The staff luncheon will be Wednesday, Nov/ 18. Parent volunteers are needed to make and/or buy items for the staff. Donations are also welcome. Please go on I-volunteer to sign up.
Jane Ryan PTA Directory and Membership registration system is now open to accept registrations for the 2015-16 school year. Enrollment has been extended to October 16. Your family will NOT be in the directory unless you provide the necessary information by going to http://bit.ly/1plBvWX. The form is organized in sections. Click on the header(s) in the form to view and make any necessary changes. You will be able to join the JR PTA with secure online payment via PayPal or credit card. Juice box collection is underway. Each classroom has a basket for collection. Baskets are emptied periodically. The main recycling bin is located in the cafeteria so students can place juice pouches in from their lunches.
Friday, Nov. 13 – Mini-Golf: 18 Holes of mini-golf in Tashua's school gym. Play as a family, make foursomes of friends and compete against each other. Snacks available for purchase in the cafeteria. $7 per person - shotgun starts at 5:40, 6:20 or 7:10 p.m. All times will be assigned on a first come first served basis and advance registration is strongly recommended. Friday, Dec. 4 — Holiday Boutique: Students will have the opportunity to shop for family, friends and teachers at an affordable price for holiday gifts. Volunteers needed for set-up on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 3:30-5:30 and throughout the day on Friday, Dec 4. PTA Reflections theme for 2015-2016: “Let Your Imagination Fly” — The National PTA Reflections program is PTA’s cornerstone arts program. Students may submit artwork in the form of paintings, drawings, dance, and photography, music! For more info visit the Reflections program on-line at ctpta.org. All students in grades K-5 are encouraged to enter. Students wishing to participate must submit their artwork to the Tashua PTA, attention of Tara Fernandes by December 4 , 2015. For every Reflections entry received, the student will be entered in a raffle to win lunch with Mrs. Neumeyer, a Tashua Tigers sweatshirt or a $10 gift card to Linda’s Storytime!
