The Student Council Food Drive begins Monday, Nov. 10 and runs through Wed., Nov. 19. Students are encouraged to bring in canned goods to be donated to the Salvation Army.
The kickoff meeting for the Fifth Grade Variety Show will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. in the BHS media center.

Third grade students are participating in Norwalk Metropolitan Youth Ballet’s (NMYB) En Pointe Residency program held at Frenchtown. Each class attended a 45 minute program on Monday, Nov. 3, and the program will continue on Friday, Nov. 14, and Monday, Nov. 17. They will perform at the school on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 9am.
Tuesday, Nov. 11, is Veteran’s Day. School is in session. There will be classroom discussions and activities associated with this day that we honor our veterans.
Wednesday, Nov. 12, will be a legal day. Dismissal will be at 1 p.m., for parent teacher conferences by appointment. Lunch will not be served.
Evening conferences, also by appointment, will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14.

Jane Ryan School
Jane Ryan music teacher Olya Fryz is looking for copies of pictures of Jane Ryan family veterans. A special wall of photos honoring these veterans and current soldiers will be outside the school’s music room. Share your history by sending in a photo of the veteran or soldier in your family in uniform (preferred, but not required). Picture copies can be sent in an envelope to Mrs. Fryz marked “Picture of Veteran” with veteran name, arms forces division, and Jane Ryan staff or student connection. A flier with information was sent home in your child’s backpack.
The school Book Fair will be on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Friday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The fair will be open after 1 p.m., parent conferences on Thursday so stop by and shop for your child.
School Spirit Day is Friday, Nov. 11. Don’t forget to have your child wear red or white. The fifth grade will be giving a Veterans Day Concert at Middlebrook Farms on Friday too.
The Jane Ryan Father’s Club Night Out will be on Friday, Nov. 7 at Meadow Road Hall, 14 Meadow Road, at 7:30 p.m. The hall holds approximately 50 people and this event always sells out. The event includes dinner, beverages, raffles and games and is $25 per person in advance. Bring your instruments for a jam session. Fliers came home in your child’s backpack.
Family members of the Jane Ryan community who are current servicemen or veterans are invited to join the community for a concert at Jane Ryan on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. Soldiers and veterans are also invited to visit classrooms at 1:30 p.m. Please note on the flier that went home in backpacks which classroom you wish to visit. As part of the Veteran’s Day activities, The Student Council will be collecting items to send to military men and women overseas. A wish list was sent home in your child’s backpack. Cards, letters and poems by the children will also be accompanying packages. The collection ends on Thursday, Nov. 20.
The Jane Ryan Student Council is collecting healthy non-perishable food items for House of Hope, which will be delivered to local food banks. Boxes are placed in the second and fifth grade hallways. The collection ends on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
All of your extra, unopened Halloween candy can be donated to Operation Gratitude. Holiday care packages are prepared and sent to US troops overseas. A drop off box is in the lobby until Nov. 7.
Let’s Do This! Middlebrook Food Bucket Challenge — starting this month, classrooms will challenge each other to fill a bucket with non perishable food items that will be donated to local agencies and families in need. More details at middlebrookelementary.com/
