Registration is now open for two theatre arts workshops, sponsored by the Trumbull Youth Department. All workshops will be held at the Trumbull Senior Center, 23 Priscilla Place.

Broadway 101 — For grades 6-8, four sessions. Saturdays, May 11, 18, June 1, 8. (No class May 25); 10 a.m.-noon. Fee: $80 for residents and $100 for non-residents.

Spring Audition Workshop — With Christy McIntosh, for grade 8 to age 21, Saturday, May 11, from 1-4 p.m. Fee: $25 ($10 to audit).

These workshops will be lead by two area theatre professionals, Christy McIntosh and Eli Newsom. McIntosh is a professional performer, voice teacher, and audition coach, having appeared Off-Broadway, regionally, and on national television.

As a teacher, she has coached her students into booking Broadway shows, National Tours, Off-Broadway musicals, regional productions, independent films, college theatre programs, and agent contracts. She is also the secretary of the Board of Directors at Bridgeport Theatre Company and directed their productions of Hairspray and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

Last January she directed Next to Normal for BTC. She is a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild and Actors Equity Association.

Eli Newsom is a local director/teacher/actor and is the founding artistic director of the Bridgeport Theatre Company. Last summer he joined the staff of Fairfield Teen Theatre, which presented the musicals 13 (director/musical director) and The Who’s Tommy (director). He is also the creator of a popular instructional tap dance video series and iPhone app titled Tap Dance Made Easy.
