Wings galore — Participants will learn to identify common local butterflies and insects. Students will explore the TNAC grounds to trap, identify and release as many different species as they can. Ages 5+. Friday, Aug. 16, 10-11 a.m. Cost: $7 for non-members, $5 for members

Totally tie dye — If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at tie dye but didn’t know where to start, join us for this “drop in” workshop. We will provide the t-shirt, dyes and instruction in three basic folds to create your own one -of-a kind shirt. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 1:30-3 p.m. Cost: $15/child (all ages, ages 10 and under with caregiver.

Flower power — Students will learn to identify common local wildflowers and go on a walk around the TNAC grounds to collect flowers for crafts. Students will learn to press flowers and will take their crafts home with them. Ages 6+. Friday, Aug. 23, 10-11 a.m. Cost: $7 for non-members/$5 for members

Snakes and other reptiles — 2013 is the Year of the Snake!. Join Cindy King with “Animal Show on the Go,” to learn about these magnificent animals with an up close experience. Find out all about Connecticut native snakes, what threatens them, how they help the environment and how to identify them. Expert staff will show the audience real live snakes from all over the world and give you a chance to pet them. Saturday, Aug. 24, 10-11 a.m. Cost: $5/child or $15 /family.
