Playground project bridges communities
Three groups came together to improve the playground at St. Catherine of Siena School Friday, Oct. 25. Students from St. Joseph High School, St. Catherine of Siena Knights of Columbus Council 5806 and fathers from St. Catherine’s School, spread more than 45 cubic yards or 12.5 tons of mulch on the school’s playground to help make the area safer for students.
Under the direction of St. Catherine’s Principal Peter Rodgers, the 35 men and women of all ages completed the task in a little less than two hours. “It was impressive to see these three groups come together and accomplish a difficult task as one unit,” Rodgers said. “The volunteers came from different groups, but they were united by service, and the children truly appreciate having a safer and cleaner playground. We can’t thank them enough for their support.”
The volunteers next aim is to perform maintenance and repairs on the playground, making sure it can be enjoyed for years to come.
