Eight students from Hillcrest Middle School participated in the Chapter competition of Math Counts at Fairfield University on Feb. 8. Out of 29 schools, Hillcrest team placed 3rd. The team members were Dalton Yu, Eunji Lee, Ashwin Sambasivam, Manan Manchanda. In the individual competition, two of the students, Dalton and Ashwin placed 5th and 13th respectively. The team will represent Hillcrest at the Hartford State competition to be held in March. Sophia Zhang and Cyrus Asgari, two 6th graders, made it in the top 25% and they will also be going to Hartford to compete in the individual contest. Their coach is Malathi Muralidharan, a 7th grade math teacher. Thanks to Trumbull ACE Foundation for their continued support.
