Hillcrest Middle School to sing during St. Vincent's tree lighting ceremony Tuesday
St. Vincent's Health Services Medical Center Employee of the Year Connie Gabriel of Naugatuck will flip the switch to turn on the lights and place the angel atop the 16-foot Christmas tree in the lobby of St. Vincent's Medical Center, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 1:00 p.m. She will be carried to the top of the tree to add its crowning touch by a pneumatic mechanical lift decked out with Christmas decorations.
Students from Hillcrest Middle School in Trumbull will sing holiday songs during the ceremonies and St. Vincent's president and CEO Dr. Stuart G. Marcus will welcome employees and visitors with a message for the season. The event is free and open to the public.
After making a grand entrance into the lobby on an electric scooter, Santa will be joined by Mrs. Claus along with "Alberta Spruce" the Christmas Tree, and "Jingles" the Elf on the Shelf to greet those in attendance. Rumor has it that the Grinch and his "reindeer-dog" Caesar may turn up to make some mischief.
The event, which is the 12th annual Christmas Tree Lighting, was initiated to introduce the holiday season at St. Vincent's and to bring joy and cheer to employees and visitors.
