An assistant principal at Guilford High School will be stepping up as Trumbull High School principal next year.

Trumbull Public Schools announced Tuesday afternoon that Marc Guarino, will be taking over for Dr. Robert Tremaglio, who has decided to step down as principal and become director of the Agriscience and Biotechnology Center. Tremaglio has been principal for eight years. (See previous story on Tremaglio stepping down here.)

“Mr. Guarino is currently Assistant Principal of Guilford High School in Guilford, Connecticut,” a release from the district said. “He is concluding his fifth year in that position and previously was Guilford’s Department Chairman of the Social Studies Department.

Guarino received his B.A. degree from Stonehill College and his M.A., with additional graduate study in Educational Leadership, from Sacred Heart University.

“He was most impressive in the interview process which included a committee consisting of representation from the staff, student body, parents and community members,” the district said.

Guarino will begin his new job July 2013.
