Daniels Farm School’s PTA held its 14th annual Celebration of the Arts on Thursday, March 28. The original event, conceived by parents in 1999, was intended to inspire an interest in the arts by bringing music, dance and the fine arts into the hands of children.

For the entire day, students enjoyed hands-on experiences in creating, understanding and appreciating art in several genres. This year’s Celebration of the Arts brought together a variety of different artists from Trumbull, some of whom are Daniels Farm parents, alumni from Trumbull High School and Hillcrest Middle School and teachers, including Janet Conte, Laura Hunt and Mary O’Neill.

The theme for the DFS Celebration of the Arts this year was “What Can You Discover Through Art?” The featured performers were the Freestyle Repertory Theater Improvisational Group from New York.

The Celebration of the Arts committee, chaired this year by Patty Gold and assisted by Sue Allen, Lesley Guzzetta, Jen Miller, Jen Knight, Julie Nyitrai, Melissa Danielle and Darlene Ferris, worked countless hours to make this day a huge success for the children. The committee was assisted by dozens of parent volunteers who helped in the classrooms, donated food and donated money for the Celebration of the Arts T-shirts, which were distributed to the students. In addition, the PTA appreciates the local restaurants and delis who donated food, and Pricilia Moderno, who donated many of her own home cooked dishes to feed the artists, staff and volunteers throughout the day.
