This summer, TYA will present Thoroughly Modern Mille, the 1920’s musical that took Broadway by storm. Millie was adapted from the 1967 Universal Pictures film, starring Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore, with an all-new musical score by Jeanine Tesori and Dick Scanlon, as well as a revamped storyline by Scanlon and Richard Morris.

Mary Joan Wright and Merial Cornell, co-directors of the Trumbull Youth Department and producers, have announced that the TYA summer show will once again be back at Trumbull High School in the new auditorium. Brett Boles will direct this year’s show. Brett is an award-winning musical theatre composer, lyricist, and librettist. He is also a director, musical director, and performer. He has worked both in the community and professionally for the past 10 years.

TYA has also announced that David Harris will return as music director and Lisa Minelli will join TYA as choreographer.

Auditions for Millie will be held May 31, from 5-10 p.m., and June 1, from 1-6 p.m., at Madison Middle School. Additional callbacks will be held on June 3, from 5-10 p.m.  Auditions are open to students entering 9th grade (Fall 2013) through age 21. No experience necessary. Performances will be held August 1-4.

TYA is also looking for crew, volunteers and sponsors. Detailed information is available at trumbullyouth.org. Contact the Trumbull Youth Department for more information; e-mail: trumbullyouth@gmail.com, or call 203-452-5032.
