College Admissions: Getting Started to Getting In!

Take a look “inside” the college admissions process with former admission director and Trumbull resident Mary Spiegel.

Spiegel is the owner of Spiegel College Planning, with 20 years of experience in the college admission field. She has been volunteering her time for this program for more than 10 years. This one-night class offers timely, helpful advice to college bound families in the community.

This class is the first in a Continuing Education series of classes designed to help families navigate the college planning process. Trumbull Continuing Ed offers these “Connection to College” programs at a very low cost so that all families may benefit. (Future programs address the college essay on Oct. 14, and financial aid on Nov. 10.)

This event on October 6 is especially helpful for students in grade 9 -11 who are beginning to think about their road to college and who want to get an early start on the process. However, High School seniors may also benefit from a last minute overview of “what colleges are looking for” as they make final adjustments to their college lists and application materials.

Spiegel will also briefly discuss two very important changes in the college admissions world: the revisions to the SAT and the implications for students’ testing choices; as well as some very important timing changes on the Federal Financial Aid process that will impact the class of 2017 and younger.

The program takes place on Tuesday Oct. 6, from 6:30-8 p.m., at Trumbull High School, Room C-5. Register in advance at Trumbull Continuing Education, 203.452.4554. Fee: $15 http://trumbullconted.org
