Artwork sought for upcoming Kershner exhibit
The Bruce S. Kershner Gallery in the Fairfield Library will have a juried show, Speechless: Works that Explore the Use of Text,” from March 9 to April 18.
While a picture is certainly worth a thousand words, the use of text in the picture clearly embellishes the artistic intent. Whether the artist’s use of letters and words are the art form itself or whether they are incorporated with images, the work creates a visual memoir. For the viewer, the technique becomes an exploration and an experience in one.
Interested artists are invited to submit works using text for this exhibit. The fee is $25 for up to two entries in any medium on a CD-Rom or DVD, which must be mailed or brought to the gallery by Feb. 14.
To view the prospectus for the show for size limitations, visit fairfieldpubliclibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/speechless_prospectus.pdf or email firstname.lastname@example.org
The actual work for those accepted will be delivered on March 6 and 7.
The juror for the show is Fred Giampietro, whose New Haven gallery, Fred Giampietro Gallery, emphasizes abstract art.
