Ash Wednesday and services
Long Hill United Methodist Church — Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m., at Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St., (Route 111). Ashes will be offered along with Holy Communion. There will be music and a time for personal reflection.

Good Friday Service
On Wednesday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m., there will be a meeting of Trumbull Interfaith Committee at Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St. Plans will be finalized for the Good Friday Service to be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 170 Madison Ave., at noon on Friday, April 3.
The Long Hill United Methodist church’s spaghetti dinner/concert series will feature the award-winning Redhot and Blue of Yale.
Thirty-eight years ago, recent Yale graduated members of the Whiffenpoofs met up with members of the new Yale women’s acapella groups to form Redhot and Blue. The focus was to go back to the classic jazz roots of Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald. Now, the coed jazz singers have expanded their show to include, “Jazz, Broadway, Beatles and Brittney Spears.” They will perform a free concert on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m., in the sanctuary of Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St., (Route 111).
Before the concert is the spaghetti and meatball supper. It includes salad, bread, beverages and dessert and costs $12, $11 for seniors and $6 for children. Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m.

Congregation B’nai Torah, 5700 Main St., Trumbull will hold a Purim Carnival on Sunday, March 8, from noon to 2 p.m. This will be a family fun day including various skill games, prizes, crafts and face painting by JeriAnn Geller.

Speaker to discuss near-death experiences
Congregation Rodeph Sholom, Bridgeport, and Congregation B’nai Torah, Trumbull, will present Newtown author and motivational speaker, CJ Golden on Wednesday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m., at Congregation B’nai Torah, 5700 Main St., Trumbull.
Golden will discuss her inspirational biography, “Reflections From Beyond ~ Sharing a Message of Hope, Peace and Kindness,” the story of the near-death experience of Tracy LaCroix. His journey is fascinating and uplifting, and CJ Golden presents it in a “brilliant, effective and positive, life and death affirming work.”

The Handmade Happening Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, March 14, at Long Hill Methodist Church and hosted by it’s Children’s Center at 6358 Main St., from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Every shopper receives a free raffle ticket.

Some of the items for sale will be adjustable necklaces, flavored oils, dog biscuits, coats for dogs, natural personal products, honey candles, sugar scrubs, pillows, in-laid wood cutting boards, sea glass jewelry, bottle openers, wood pallet creations, wire bangle bracelets, natural soaps, knit designs, stoneware, hand sewn accessories, glass bottles made into cheese trays, spoon rests and bowls.
