Monthly church meeting on Sept. 2
The Trumbull Interfaith Council will hold its monthly meeting at Unity Hill United Church of Christ at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2. Plans will be made for the clergy/laity supper set for Wednesday, Oct. 7. Donna DeLuca of the group C.A.R.E.S. (Community Addiction and Recovery Education and Support Organization) will be a guest speaker at the Sept. 2 meeting.

Shabbat open house services
Congregation B’nai Torah, at 5700 Main St., will be having Shabbat open house services for prospective new members on Friday, Sept. 4, at 7:30 p.m., with an Oneg Shabbat following. Children are welcome.
Services are led by Rabbi Colin Brodie. Eexperience their growing egalitarian congregation where everyone has the opportunity to be involved. There will also be an opportunity to learn about their two day a week Talmud Torah with small class sizes and personal attention, nursery school, synagogue community involvement, adult education and social action activities. Labor Day tag sale
A giant Labor Day tag sale is being held on Monday, Sept. 7, at Congregation B’nai Torah, 5700 Main St., from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The sale will be held in an indoor, air conditioned facility. It will include clothing, furniture, books, art, toys, sporting goods and household items. Funds raised from this sale will benefit educational programs. Cash only. Arts and crafts fair
The Trinity Church Arts and Crafts Fair takes place on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., located at 1734 Huntington Tpke.
The event offers jewelry, and floral arrangements and unique crafts, as well as a bake sale with cakes, cookies, tea breads, a book sale, plants and more. Lunch on the grill is available. Free admission.
Armenian Picnic Festival
Armenian Church of the Holy Ascension, 1460 Huntington Turnpike, will hold its annual Armenian Picnic Festival Sunday, Sept. 13, noon-4 p.m., with lamb and chicken shish kebab dinners, Armenian desserts and more. Kids will enjoy Frizzle the clown who will do face painting and create balloon sculptures (for free). Dance to today’s Armenian music as well as traditional favorites. Rain or shine. Apple Festival seeks vendors
The annual event will be held at 5170 Madison Ave., on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. It will feature the church’s famous homemade apple pies, baked goods, candy and caramel apples. There will also be a variety of crafters, a Kid’s Zone with bounce houses, face painting, games and children’s crafts. Mums will be sold, along with locally grown apples and cider from the fall harvest: pumpkins, gourds, squashes, varieties of apples, Indian corn, and fall decor.
Admission is free. Money raised from the fair will help support the outreach of the church to our local community food banks and shelters and completion of the interior of the parish hall.
