My name is Elaine Hammers and I am asking for your vote on November 8 to become your State Senator in the 22nd District, covering all of Trumbull, a portion of Bridgeport, and a portion of Monroe.
When deciding how to cast your vote, there are two key questions that you need to ask yourself; First, Is our state better off today than 2014? Second, aren’t you tired of being in last place? Our state is not better off today than 2014.
Our budget is a mess; spending is out of control and our public policies are driving people and businesses out of state, which leads to lower revenues. Additionally, we are last or near last in every economic measure.
We are a beautiful state with incredible resources and very talented people and our government has created an environment where it is very difficult for businesses and individuals to succeed. As someone who runs a small business, Chairman of the Trumbull Board of Finance, former State Representative, and former Finance Director for Trumbull, I have the skills, background and experience that we need in Hartford to properly represent the 22nd District.
The 22nd District is very diverse and the needs of all three communities that I will represent are very different. We need a State Senator that understands the needs of each community and is willing to challenge the status quo and do what is right for Trumbull, Bridgeport and Monroe. It requires effort and hard work to listen to the needs of the community and to ensure that state policies are beneficial to the 22nd District.
We all deserve better and it’s time to bring change to Hartford. The Malloy Democrats have had their chance to create opportunities, invest in education and implement social policies that help give people a hand up, not a hand out. They have failed and it is time to bring new representation to Hartford that will make the tough decisions that need to be made to turn Connecticut around and put us on the path to prosperity.
