The Trumbull Republican Town Committee recently named several new officers in a mid-term election prompted by Matt Caron’s decision to step down from the party chairmanship.

“Being elected chairman of the TRTC is an awesome experience. Awesome in that it has allowed me the opportunity to work with and develop terrific relationships with so many wonderful people who care so passionately about helping our town and state, yet awesome in the level of commitment and responsibility the position warrants,” Caron said in his final remarks as chairman to the committee. “This was not easy coming to the determination that no matter how much I wanted to be in the chairman’s role, the demands of my work and family do not allow me the capacity to make this position the priority it needs to be.”

Joe Pifko, two-term Town Councilman and former Town Council vice chairman was elected chairman. David Rutigliano and Mike Herbst were picked as vice chairmen.

"We are all excited to continue the great job that Matt has started and we look forward to working towards a better Trumbull,” Pifko said.
