Police arrested a Trumbull man they say tried to break into a home on Dayton Road Tuesday afternoon, while a mother and child were home. The victim, who was home with her three year-old noticed a black car backed into her driveway and heard her doorbell ring. She decided not to answer it, according to Police Lt. Leonard Scinto. She heard the doorbell ring several more times and a knocking at the door. Moments later she heard her alarm activate, indicating the basement door had been opened. She called police and locked herself and her child in the master bathroom, waiting for police. Upon arrival, police arrested Michael Antunes, 26, of Pemberton Drive, who was in the driveway of the home. He was charged him with criminal attempt of second-degree burglary and criminal mischief for the damage to the door. He was held on a $15,000 bond.
