The Trumbull Police Department recently promoted Sgt. Donald Allen to the rank of lieutenant.

The promotion follows the promotions of four other officers to the ranks of sergeant and lieutenant in December. The promotions were necessary following the recent retirement of several ranking officers in the past year.

Allen started his career with the Trumbull Police Department in January 2001, after completing his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Quinnipiac University.

In 2013, Allen was promoted to detective and then, sergeant that same year. As a sergeant, he was assigned as a shift supervisor.

Allen is a Field Training Officer, Honor Guard member, firearms instructor for the department and a member and instructor of the South West Emergency Response Team.

“Lt. Allen has been supported along the way by his loving family, including his parents, his wife Heather, and daughters, Aprile and Ashlie, who pinned him,” said Capt. Keith Golding.

The department is currently authorized for 81 police officers.

“The selection process is now underway in an effort to hire more personnel to fill exisiting vacancies for entry level patrol officers,” Golding said.
