Superintendent: Student brandished pocket knife at Madison Middle School

An eighth grade student in Trumbull's Alternate School Program, at Madison Middle School, brandished a pocket knife today during school, according to Superintendent Ralph Iassogna.

Iassogna said the incident occurred around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

"The security guard was called in immediately and police also responded," he said. "The student was taken into custody and, fortunately, no one was hurt."

The student is part of Trumbull's Alternate School Program, which is on the Madison Middle School campus.

Trumbull Police told the Times earlier Wednesday afternoon that they were investigating a "breach of peace" incident at Madison Middle School.

We will update the story as more information becomes available.
