Stratford cops seize more than a pound of crack cocaine from Trumbull house

Members of the Stratford Police Narcotics Vice and Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant and seized approximately $13,000 worth of drug proceeds, 1.1 pounds of crack cocaine and 2.2 ounces of powdered cocaine at 155 White Plains Road in Trumbull.

According to Stratford police Lt. Frank Eannotti, the warrant was the result of an investigation lasting several months into drug activity within the Town of Stratford.

Eanotti said the street value of the seized narcotics is estimated to be approximately $40,000. Several items of drug paraphernalia such as packaging and scales were seized along with several 45-caliber bullets. No firearm was found.

The target of the investigation, Eduardo Nieves, 31, was placed under arrest.

Nieves was charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating a drug factory, possession of drug paraphernalia and risk of injury to a minor.

Bond for Nieves was set at $250,000 for court on Jan. 25.

Police also took custody of Veronica Valdovinos, 26, during the incident. Valdovinos was charged with risk of injury to a minor, possession of a narcotic substance, sale of crack cocaine and conspiracy to sell crack cocaine.

Bond for Valdovinos was set at $1,000 for court on Jan. 25.
