Loose change, cash, an iPod — these are some of the items that were stolen from unlocked cars on Shelton Road Tuesday night.

The Trumbull Police Department is currently investigating 13 vehicle burglaries, a press release said Wednesday afternoon.

Police are reminding residents to remove valuables, lock their vehicles at night and to report any suspicious activity.

"Locking both home and vehicle doors greatly reduces the chances of break-ins," Lt. Leonard Scinto said in the release. "In this case, only unlocked vehicles were targeted."

Police did not give the estimated total value of the items stolen, but included in the release that a vehicle was stolen on Shelton Road Tuesday night.

The vehicle was later recovered in the same area as the burglaries, police said.

Anyone with information regarding the thefts is asked to contact the Trumbull Police Department at 203-261-3665.
