The Trumbull Police Department is making residents aware that numerous complaints have been made regarding residents receiving phone calls from people representing themselves as employees of the I.R.S.
The callers are threatening people with penalties and fines if payments aren’t made immediately and are attempting to obtain personal information.

Residents should also be aware that the I.R.S. would not be calling persons on the phone requesting this information or making threats of this nature. This is an ongoing scam that becomes more prevalent during the tax season, according to police
