Nichols, Trumbull Center and Long Hill Fire schedule open houses this month
Trumbull’s volunteers are making National Fire Prevention Month fun, with three open houses scheduled for each of Trumbull’s fire companies.
The first open house is scheduled for this Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Nichols Fire Department, 100 Shelton Road. The open house is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Nichols Department will feature the Connecticut Child Identification program, a fire safety trailer, “Jaws of Life” accident demonstration, a room fire demonstration and much more. Visitors will also have a chance to win a ride to school in a fire truck.
Refreshments include hot dogs, apples and apple cider, along with pumpkins given to all children who come.

The Trumbull Center Station, 860 White Plains Road, will hold its open house Sunday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The day will include fire prevention information, truck tours, a blow-up truck slide, firefighter demonstrations, snacks and a kids’ pumpkin patch.

The Long Hill Fire Department will hold its open house later this month, on Sunday Oct. 26.
The open house is at station 1 at 6315 Main St., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will include a smoke house and safety demonstration, a tour of the firehouse, meet and greet with firefighters, police and EMS and a chance to explore the trucks. Live demonstrations will include a room fire, car fire, stove fire and car extrication.
The Long Hill Department will be raffling off the first five scheduled slots in its annual toy delivery.
